I'm going to buy it anyway for the game itself, but that fact there is a beta code in there for ghost recon makes me want it even more.

Nope, just a couple of levels in the single player. There was a short little video on the dashboard about what to expect in the demo.

I'm still holding out on this one. While I was one of the few that enjoyed Double Agent. It isn't much fun online when you are playing by yourself. I want to make sure this one isn't a one week wonder.

For better or worse I have this pre-ordered already from Amazon. If the demo sucks I'll cancel it, but otherwise I'm in

Just played the demo. First I would have to say that there are changes here from the original games. Change is not bad though. At first I wondered if I would be confused by the controls. I wasn't. It is very much Splinter Cell with a different with a new feeling. If you run and gun you will die. This part of the game was included to teach you multiple ways to complete a level. You could play this demo 10 times and still finish it differently. The new things you will notice at the start is the sonar, cover system, and execution. Sonar send out a wave to reveal enemies near by. You can mark these enemies (just like in RSV) using sonar as well. The cover system isn't as sticky as it was in the old days. This is much more like RSV and Gears with a touch of that game that you could slide across surfaces (forgot what it was called). Execution is a new mode that allows you to mark 3 things and then press Y. Sam goes into auto mode and takes the targets out in order that is marked. Sounds too easy? Well you have to earn execution to use it. You have to perform and hand to hand take down.

I didn't see any options for picking up bodies and moving them into the shadows. I wonder why that's not in there. You can use a person for a shield and walk them to a corner for their death. Enemies will spot sloppy kills and go on alert. You can still take out lights to create more shadows. The game goes into a sepia tone when you are covered by shadows and full color when you are not so you know when you can be seen. Like I said. Plenty of ways to get the take downs. Many options. At one point I just hung from the ceiling to make a plan of attack. Climbed back down to take a few guards out. Then climbed back up to perform my execution mode. Love the slow motion. You do feel like you are in control and have to be very careful. The game will grab your attention to important story information.

The demo is good. Looking forward to the game and getting more comfortable with the controls and execution mode. No Multiplayer in the demo.

thanks for the write-up. I'm hoping I can clean off enough space on my HDD to download this demo.

Did you play Batman Arkham Asylum? I'm wondering how this game compares to that in regards to stealth.

I'd like to put out a challenge.

Lets see how many of us can get through the demo RSV style.

Played through the demo multiple times. It's pretty short, but each time I went through it I tried different techniques/routes.

Game feels much more action-esque than previous splinter cell games, and Sam can really move when he needs to.

The 'marking' of targets is much better than I thought it was going to be (was afraid it was going to be nothing more than quick time events) and tha fact that you need to build up your execution meter in order to use it assures you'll have some up close takedowns.

Digging the demo, looking forward to the full game

I like the look and feel of it and would agree that Sam moves around a whole lot better. I really dug it and looking forward to the full game. Curious what the multiplayer offerings will be. They're pretty tight lipped regarding it.

I tried it out this morning and found it to be difficult at first, as I expected. Hitting the wrong buttons early on can make this a lot more difficult. A great way to get all the nearby enemies after you is to accidentally use an EMP.

Other than those few mistakes by myself I loved it. Love the color changes to show when you are in the shadows. And I love how when you leave cover it keeps a silhouette of where you last were and where the enemies think you were.

I did find the jump and grab a bit tricky. You should be able to look at an object and hit the A to grab it if allowed, but some of the pipes on the wall required looking beside them. It took several tries to get the reticle on the right spot to allow me to jump.

I'm really looking forward to getting this and sneaking around.

I am amazed at the different ways I can accomplish this demo. Last night I pulled off killing 5 enemies at the same time. I sat up on the second floor of the first building (right after you toss the dude out the window). Threw a sticky cam across to the open door on the other side where a guard pauses for a moment. Climbed up the pipe and marked the reactor thing and the two guards to the left. I waited till the guard below me walked underneath me hanging from the pipe and the guard across the way to stand my the camera. I detonated the camera dropped down to get the kill on the guy below and then pulled the execution off. Bang! 5 dead.
